Biography:
Brandon Chez has managed to keep a low profile while running one of the crypto industry’s central websites, CoinMarketCap. Since 2013, the site has become one of the most visited sites in the cryptocurrency space and a premier source of market data. His influence in the industry was made apparent when he delisted South Korean exchanges from CoinMarketCap without warning in January 2018, triggering a $100 billion drop of the total cryptocurrency market value.
Brandon Chez's 2019:
In May, CoinMarketCap announced that it would remove exchanges from its market cap calculations if they failed to provide certain data through their APIs, specifically, live trading data and order book data. This is part of the company’s Data Accountability and Transparency Alliance initiative, intended to bring more transparency to the crypto space. In June, CoinMarketCap announced its first-ever acquisition — a cryptocurrency trading fund and analytics firm named Hashtag Capital, to bring better industry analytics to the site. In September, CMC announced its first-ever conference, The Capital, which took place in November last year in Singapore.
What Cointelegraph expects for 2020:
With CoinMarketCap now actively expanding on its services, we expect 2020 to feature some developments both within the core site and within newer ventures like the blockchain conference series.
