Roger Ver, the owner of Bitcoin.com and the main proponent of Bitcoin Unlimited, denies that BU is anti-Bitcoin. To explain his view, he urges everyone to read the original Bitcoin white paper.
Ver tells Cointelegraph:
"Read and compare BU’s scaling roadmap vs Blockstream and Core, and it is clear that it is Blockstream and Core who have deviated from the original vision of Bitcoin as a P2P electronic cash system."
The early Bitcoin adopter also said the accusation that BU has closed its source and is now releasing binary only versions and hiding how their client works is a lie. On Friday, Akin Fernandez, owner of the Bitcoin startup Azteco, made those allegations against BU.
"This is a lie that has been spread by some supporters of Core," Ver countered.
"All of the code is open source, and will always be open source."
On the contention that Bitcoin exchanges will not list BU, as miners and businesses are signaling that they want nothing to do with it, he once again refuted with this reply:
"This is not true at all. Businesses will continue to list Bitcoin. If the BU roadmap for Bitcoin begins to be implemented then businesses will refer to BU as Bitcoin."
BU's quality control problems
There was also an assertion that the BU dev team has taken on a very difficult task that only a handful of men on earth can handle properly and they have run into many quality control problems. Ver calls it nonsense.
He maintains there are plenty of smart people around the world who are capable of learning about and working on Bitcoin.
Consequently, he has assured the Bitcoin community BU’s recent quality control issues will be resolved in time as the number of participants and users continues to increase.
Why BU is better than SegWit
The dispute between BU and SegWit has intensified dividing the community along the two camps. When Cointelegraph posed the question what makes BU better than SegWit, Ver explained:
"BU fixes Bitcoin’s immediate problems that are causing people to start to use things other than Bitcoin. SegWit solves some issues that don’t need to be solved urgently, and it does it in an irreversible and overly complex way."
However, Ver is convinced time will tell whether BU is going to win this scaling battle that is hurting the ecosystem so much. Positively, this may be over by the end of the second quarter of 2017.
