Tezos Price Index

Tezos is another independent blockchain similar to Ethereum, used for building decentralized applications, or DApps. The Tezos blockchain mainnet went live in 2018 and uses XTZ as its main coin in its ecosystem. For its consensus mechanism, the Tezos blockchain utilizes a variant of proof-of-stake (PoS), known as liquid proof-of-stake (LPoS). The Tezos blockchain differs from others in that it boasts a system capable of undergoing changes without initiating a hard fork into two separate blockchains. Such network alterations are decided by holders of a certain amount of the XTZ asset. These XTZ holders also produce new blocks on the chain. Additionally, smaller XTZ holders are also able to impact changes to the Tezos blockchain in a less direct way. Such an ecosystem, therefore, might affect the price of XTZ, given the asset’s usage, pending the demand for the coin.
