MegaUpload News

MegaUpload was an online file hosting company founded by Kim Dotcom in 2005 and headquartered in Hong Kong. MegaUpload had a net income of more than $175 million. On January 2012, the United States Department of Justice arrested the owners of MegaUpload, due to copyright infringement, and seized the site. Kim Dotcom, as the MegaUpload founder, was also the subject of arrest, but his residency in New Zealand impeded U.S. authorities. Extradition proceedings of Kim are ongoing to this day. In February 2012, during a proceeding before the High Court of New Zealand, Kim Dotcom claimed that MegaUpload hosted more than 12 billion unique files for over 100 million users in 2012. The original MegaUpload site isn’t functioning anymore, but Mega Ltd. started MegaUpload 2.0 under the name of MEGA. MegaUpload’s new site was released in 2013 and is available in 49 languages.
This morning, on Twitter, Kim revealed more information about his upcoming Bitcoin-based Megaupload 2.0 release.
