Press Release

Blockchain: Rethink Trust 2018 is a new By the Bay conference focused on blockchain engineering and business use cases. The conference’s speakers include leading experts from the most established companies in the enterprise blockchain world, including Coinbase, IBM, Oracle, Bosch, ING, Bankex, Zededa, and four leading consortiums. The event will take place in the heart of Amsterdam, at the historic venue Beurs van Berlage on Friday, June 29.

Rethink Trust 2018 is not another blockchain expo, convention, or coiner meetup. It is a natural continuation of a successful series of By the Bay conferences (such as scale.bythebay.io) that look at the core of software engineering powering big data, AI, ML, and explore its business use cases.

This year’s conference will cover topics like: integration of blockchain across key industries and its adoption in various organizational systems, the properties of blockchain protocols, and the aspects of distributed systems in Big Data, IoT, and AI. The main focus of the conference is re-engineering enterprise trust networks through blockchain technology.

Rethink Trust is the first Enterprise Blockchain Engineering Conference built on three principles:

— Engineering Excellence
— Enterprise Applicability
— Existing Business Verticals

If your enterprise is serious about blockchain for business, you need to join us and save yourself a year of learning in a day.  Our speakers have applied the technology to existing business verticals and distill the best practices in business and engineering over a tight day of keynote, technical talks, workshops, panels, and a party.

IBM is the Host Sponsor of the conference with Hyperledger Fabric featured in the keynote by IBM CTO Chris Ferris.  Oracle plans major enterprise announcements. Coinbase dissects blockchain forks and qualified custodianship. Zededa connects Edge Computing with Trusted IoT, and so on.

The ideas behind the conference are described in https://chief.sc/rethinktrust2018-ideas.

Two guiding ideas are the goals of our community:

1.  Take Back the Blockchain for Real Business Verticals
2.  Make Blockchain the best Working Data.

The program is summarized in https://chief.sc/rethinktrust2018-summary

The event’s 4 coding workshops will cover:

— The most effective engineering practices for enterprise blockchains
— Integrating Hyperledger for distributed enterprise trust systems
— Decentralized consensus for consortiums
— Secure and correct implementation of enterprise consensus and smart contracts
— Granular private data and distributed privacy management
