Nick Szabo and Vitalik Buterin are among the guests at the upcoming Third Global Blockchain Summit due to take place in Shanghai Sept. 14-16.
The event, now in its third year, is run by Chinese business network Wanxiang Blockchain Labs.
As chief scientist, Buterin will deliver a keynote speech in line with previous appearances at the 2015 and 2016 Summits and related events.
“With 1,200 participants including investors and Blockchain significant players (from) [around] the world, we have reason to believe that [the Summit will] open a door for those Blockchain companies and teams who want to enter the (Chinese) market,” an accompanying press release about the event states.
In addition to Buterin and Szabo, the guest list includes Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne and EOS CTO Daniel Larimer.
Cointelegraph will also be in attendance in Shanghai, allowing readers to get a first-hand insight into the latest developments from the Chinese Blockchain scene.
The Global Blockchain Summit will take place just a month after a similar event of the same name in Shanghai, which took an unexpected turn as law enforcement conducted a surprise inspection.
“The spot-check resulted in the formal investigation of a company under suspicion of pyramid selling,” LakeBanker, one of the attendees, reported in a subsequent blog post.
“Such action is likely to stoke fears of impending crackdowns or other Draconian measures targeted at cryptocurrencies, Blockchain technology and financial innovation in China.”
These “measures” are rumored to be as harsh as the death penalty in certain unauthorized investment situations.
Wanxiang, however, remains confident its conference will be a success.
A separate start-up innovation competition dubbed ‘Demo Day’ will kick off the three-day Summit, with teams in line to win up to $10,000.
