The dramatic, but still not tragic story of the black market website Silk Road and its alleged founder Ross Ulbricht will be filmed and soon enter the white screens of the movie theaters worldwide. A really thrilling, criminal and romantic story might be the source for the most modern and popular genre of films – the biopic.
However the director of the movie is not chosen or just unknown to the community, the storyboard writer hired by 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment is Dennis Lehane. He became popular in the beginning of the 21st century when several of his novels were adopted for TV and widescreen movies. Among them “Gone, baby, Gone” and “Mystic River”. The work with martin Scorsese means that this is the right person to bring to a second life the story of Ross Ulbricht aka dread Pirate Roberts.
Still it is not a surprise to see the collaboration with Chernin Entertainment, who has just planned to offer the spectators their first movie “St. Vincent de Van Nuys”. Chernin and his company are mostly interested in three different aspects of the market. His huge holding works on qualitative and highly valuable content for movies and television. Another point of interest is investments in modern very technological solutions, among them IT progress. This sphere is very close to crypto currency, the development of corresponding software and services. The third branch is work and investments in grooving economies and emerging markets. Still he took also part in production of already famous movies like “Dr. Doolittle” and “Can’t Hardly Wait”.
Some source has found information that the story might be built upon article of Joshua Davis about a child attacking the users of Silk Road users and finally brought to custody. Much more could be smelt from Ulbricht’s story – alleged drug dealing and conspiracy, murder attempts, laundry of money and other crimes, which were opened up by the investigations of the FBI. [Editor's Note: Many of the murder-for-hire charges have since been dropped]
As the story is very recent and fresh in the minds of the society many studious are interested in the rights to produce this movie. One of Chernin Entertainment specialists, Kerry Foster started helping Lahane on the development of the story. But more on the storyline remains not published as the representatives of all mentioned people do not give comments on this facts. Any attempts of contact did not succeed to receive some kind of approval of the collected information.

The next important question is the choice of actor to play Ross Ulbricht in the upcoming film. At first two candidates were mentioned as the most possible. Among them – Michael Cera and Aaron Paul. But recently the list was added by Robert Pattinson (all “Twilight” movies), Michael Shannon, Emile Hirsch. All of them having a big story of movies behind them and capable to perform the Dread Pirate Roberts of the Silk Road. The two first are the most look alike, but the final decision might be hit by still missing producer of the blockbuster. Will it become a box-office success – time will tell.
