The ESPN college football show, taken each week, usually is filmed at a different college campus in Auburn, Alabama. One of the students decided to show a sign with Bitcoin logo and a QR code, which turned out to be a code of his Bitcoin wallet.
A Quick Response Code, or short QR code, is a two- dimensional barcode that can represent any kind of information and very popular today. Mostly it is used like a URL for a website.
The image quickly got to the Internet and spread shifty across Bitcoin communication. Bitcoin fans immediately started to send this QR code further and found out the address of kid’s wallet: 1HiMoMgBaAikFHgAt3M4YJtetp4HrnsiXu. According to the information from Reddit, it belongs to BitcoinPitcher2.
Soon after a huge wave of donations coming from the community began. In no time the kid received more than 100 transactions over 22 bitcoins in total, which is about $24,350 and donations continue to come.
BitcoinPitcher2 said that the idea started as a 'joke' but the result is sure splendid. He promised to donate most of the received money to a homeless shelter and outreach group Sean's Outpost charitable in Pensacola, Florida.
For now, it has become one of the most successful ventures of the week. At the time of writing a student received 119 transactions over 23.005 BTC. Impressive!
