The proliferation of BTMs around the world continued last week, even with the Christmas holiday giving billions of us an excuse not to do much work at all.
According to the Bitcoin ATM map published by our partner Coin ATM Radar, 5 new BTMs went live last week, all in an English-speaking country.
Australia
In Melbourne, the Mr Pilgrim Cafe in the Chadstone Shopping Centre installed a one-way Lamassu, operated by Cryptolink. Coin ATM Radar reports the machine charges 10% on top of the average fees charged by the three exchanges it uses.
Canada
On Monday, Cryptopick Canada announced it had installed a pair of one-way GenesisCoin Satoshi1 BTMs in Coquitlam and Port Moody, both cities in British Columbia.
The machine in Port Moody is at iBAY Communications, and the machine in Coquitlam is at PC Doctor directly adjacent to Coquitlam Centre Mall. Each machine charges 3.5% fees.
With Cryptopick’s recent installations, that brings the number of Bitcoin ATMs in Vancouver and surrounding cities to 14.
UK
Down in Brighton, Presuming Ed Coffeehouse on London Road has installed a two-way GenesisCoin machine, the city’s first BTM. At the time of writing, the machine sells 1 BTC for 188.19 GBP and buys for 216.83 GBP. Buys are capped at 1,000 GBP, sells are capped at 500 GBP, and daily transactions are limited to 3,000 GBP.
USA
In downtown Athens, Georgia, Vape Dynamics has installed a one-way Lamassu BTM. No information on fees or transaction limits is available at this time, but if anyone in Athens can send us an update, we’ll do our best to ensure the Dawgs beat Florida next season.
