The digital currency world will be trekking to London this summer for the second CoinSummit of the year and third overall. The previous CoinSummit convention was held in March in San Francisco and featured a plethora of speeches and panel discussions from leading cryptocurrency entrepreneurs, VC and angel investors, hedge fund professionals, and bitcoin enthusiasts. The London convention will feature nothing less.
Some notable speakers include new Bitcoin Foundation board of director Brock Pierce, angel investor Roger Ver, Silk Road Equity co-founder Matthew Roszak, and Maidsafe CEO David Irvine. Others include Megabigpower founder David Carlson, eToro CEO Yoni Assia, Lamassu CEO Zach Harvey, and many others.
Besides the usual speaker / panel line-up that goes hand-in-hand with these types of conferences, a special platform is being organized for a few startup companies. According to the site, 10 startups will be given the chance to present in front of the entire CoinSummit audience and will be chosen “on the basis of the size and attractiveness of the opportunity they are pursuing, the strength of their team, and their traction/metrics/achievements.” Applying for the presentation is free and the deadline to register is June 20.
The summit is organized by Pamir Gelenbe, serial entrepreneur and partner at Hummingbird Ventures. After the last summit in March, Gelenbe relayed a conversation he had with technology entrepreneur Wences Casares:
I caught up with Wences today post-conference, and he has a very firm view that Bitcoin is probably going to get to about a million dollars a coin within 5 to 10 years. And his view is that it’s going to get about $30,000 by the end of this year.
Casares is not scheduled to come to the event this year, although his bold predictions will likely still be ringing in everyone’s heads.
CoinSummit London will be held at the East Wintergarden in London and take place on July 10-11. Entrance to the conference is invite-only. Digital currency enthusiasts who wish to attend the event can request an invitation on the summit’s official site.
