Changpeng Zhao resigned as CTO of Chinese-based exchange OkCoin after being there for 9 months. (June 2014-February 2015) Cointelegraph reached CZ for a comment on why he left OkCoin:
“It’s really just a difference in direction. The differences became more apparent in the past couple of months, and we had a lot of discussions, but decided it was best to part ways.”
This move comes as a surprise to many, seeming to come from nowhere. Under CZ’s direction OkCoin became the leading exchange in China, and added advanced features such as futures. Prior to working at OkCoin, CZ was Head of Development at Blockchain from December 2013-May 2014. He continues to be an Advisory Board Member for Bitcoin Shop (OTCBQ:BTCS).
When asked about his future plans, CZ did say he would remain in the space. I, for one, am glad that such a bright person is staying and continuing to participate inside this economy. We at Cointelegraph wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors, and hope to see working again soon.
