NEM Price Index

NEM is a cryptocurrency project that commenced in 2015 as a blockchain for building, complete with its native asset, XEM. Since the launch of NEM’s blockchain, however, the NEM project has branched out, now touting two separate blockchains under the brand. NEM’s original blockchain is now called NEM NIS1. It’s native asset is still XEM. The other blockchain under the NEM brand is called Symbol, with its own asset — XYM. The Symbol blockchain is tailored toward business use cases and functions.

Historically, XEM’s price, sometimes priced against Bitcoin (XEM/BTC), has been a point of focus for those trading the asset. As XEM is a crypto asset, “NEM stock price” is inaccurate terminology. Due to the presence of two blockchains (and their native assets) under the NEM brand, referring to the two assets by their tickers may help avoid confusion, rather than saying “buy NEM,” “NEM wallet,” “NEM price,” etc. Cointelegraph’s NEM Price Index gives real-time price information for XEM, the crypto asset of NEM’s NIS1 blockchain.
