guide to survival in Davos

TIP #1
START LOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION EARLY
Accommodation is your most valuable asset during the week. Davos is small, and due to high demand, the prices are high. Start looking early and check nearby villages such as Klosters.
TIP #2
BEST WAY OF TRANSPORTATION ARE TRAINS AND TAXIS
You can reach Davos by car, but there are plenty of trains arriving from Zurich and Kloster. As networking and drinking goes hand-in-hand, a train is the best way to commute. There are taxis, which are expensive, but if you tell the driver that you work at a hotel, they may lower the fee..
TIP #3
HAVE A NETWORKING STRATEGY & LEVERAGE YOUR CONNECTIONS
It is a busy week for everyone. Thus, to get the most from the Davos experience, plan your meetings and set up a strategy with your team/colleagues/like-minded individuals to “divide and conquer.” At night, there are a lot of parties happening, which are great network opportunities.
TIP #4
ACCESS TO THE HIGH SECURITY ZONES
For some locations, you need a “Admission Badge” that grants you access to such zones. This year, there is a one-time fee of 200 Swiss francs, which grants you access to certain zones on that day you have a ticket/invite to the venue where the event is happening.
TIP #5
GET EVENT TICKETS EARLY, MOST ARE VERY LIMITED
There are tons of events happening every day. Do your research early so you know which events will take place where and if you need a “Admission Badge.” Most blockchain events are on Eventbrite and there will be an event app you can download called DavosX
TIP #6
PREPARE AND DRESS WELL FOR DAVOS
Bring a really warm, puffy jacket, underlayers — and some overlayers — and don’t forget to wear some shoes for the cold weather, as the streets are covered in ice and you might end up going uphill for some events late at night, when it’s -25C.
